Week in the Life 2016| Thursday Words + Pictures

I’m still plugging along on this week long project called “Week in the life” spearheaded by the amazing Ali Edwards. This week I’m capturing and recording about our lives. This was Thursday.

7:11 am: A year or so ago Oliver used to wake up screaming almost every day. He just took about 40 minutes to be happy. He would scream and thrash on the floor and just lose it for most of the time. And it was a TERRIBLE stage that we barely survived it. Unfortunately today he had a little relapse. And it was quite unfortunate. Apparently he is still working on it.
Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

7:20am: Eli is so funny about scripture study. Either he won’t read at all or he will just keep reading and won’t stop and then the other kids have to interrupt him to get a turn to read. Today it was the reading and reading and reading and not stopping. 23 verses in one day.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

7:22am: Norah wasn’t really paying attention during the scripture study. We’re still working on that.

7:50am: Oliver was pretty proud of his sticker page.

7:56am: Alden running off to the bus rather quickly.

11:53pm: Appointment at the Physiotherapist. I’m hoping that it will help my near constant back pain. I’m working on that.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

12:42pm: We ended up at Subway for lunch and there was crying and a big of gnashing on the floor. And it was lame. We’re still working on that.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

1:21pm: Norah fell asleep. Early mornings hit her too.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

1:23pm: Oliver passed out on the way home. That early morning grumpy wake up did it. He ended up only sleeping for 10 minutes which is good.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

1:44pm: We are trying to get rid of the soothers. And I heard a great idea from a friend to tell Norah that the soother fairy came and took all her soothers away and that she would get a special present for them all leaving. So she picked out walkie talkies. And her and Ollie are having tons of fun using them.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

1:47pm: They really enjoyed playing together with them. And I love it when they enjoy something together.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

3:43pm: Eli also enjoyed the Walkie Talkie’s too. HA!

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

5:37pm: Lucy had a friend over Livi Sudo. And they enjoyed playing together and then she stayed over for a late over too.

5:42pm: I love this snuggling. So sweet. I’m thankful Regan could capture this.
Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

6:19pm: She was helping me clean up the game.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

6:25pm: Dad made supper so that I could go off to my Stake Relief Society meeting. He’s a good dad.

Week in the Life 2016| Wednesday Words + Pictures

I’m still plugging along on this week long project called “Week in the life” spearheaded by the amazing Ali Edwards. This week I’m capturing and recording about our lives and then hopefully next week I’ll be putting together my album (but it’s more likely I will be doing it in a few weeks since this is crazy spring soccer, softball and end of school season.) But for today, here was our Tuesday.

Yesterday I took less pictures but in the end there are still lots of stories documented.

5:40am: Three kids are already up and asking for food.  Norah woke us up first with her polite knocking on the door that she always does. And then when I went in I could 5 minutes later hear Oliver screaming for Dad. So I took Norah out for breakfast and found Eli had already gotten up to eat too. At least Oliver and Eli ate and then  laid back in bed and were relatively quiet. Norah is a talker from the minute she gets up. Little bits of chit chat. Me and Regan laid in bed and chatted ourselves. It was a very early start to the day. One day no little voices or knocking will wake us up. And I’m trying to not let the early mornings make me grumpy. I’m still working on that.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

7:29am: Oliver loves to help “read” scriptures in the morning. Dad tells him the words and he proudly says them out loud. Soon hopefully he’ll be reading and be able to do it on his own. We’re working on that.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

7:58am: His great idea today for his lunch was a whole bag of popcorn, which he burnt a bit. He was popping it when he should have been running to catch the bus so there wasn’t time to redo the bag. He yelled running out the door “I LOVE burnt popcorn.” He pretty much always has a positive attitude. Something I am still working on myself.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

8:40am: Dad was a little late leaving this morning but he still did his usual run and throw the littles around hugs before rushing out the door. My kids love to say goodbye and hello to him in a big production.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

9:01am: He was supposed to be getting dressed. But instead was dancing in the doorway. And striking a pose over and over and over.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

9:04am: These two don’t always brush their teeth in the morning. We’re trying to do it every day. We’re still working on it.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

9:10am: Oliver is in a small simple Joy school group. He loves to go and loves to learn. Norah has been wanting to go all year long too so today I just asked and Norah was SO happy that she got to go to school too. We walked down the street to the Depew’s house for school.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

11:08am: I am filling in for Alden’s lunch group today for another mom. I had a whole lot of bananas so I made some of our favorite banana chocolate muffins and nachos. I don’t bake every day but pretty close to.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

11:42am: These boys are lots of fun and oh so goofy. It’ll be interesting as they continue to grow into men.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

11:57am: I was late picking up the boys because I just couldn’t find any van keys. I had to borrow the neighbors van to even go get them. Half way thru the lunch hour I found them in the hanging basket in the hallway. Still haven’t found the other set. I hate looking for lost keys. I’m trying to make sure everyone always hangs them up when they come n the house. We’re all still working on that.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda12:05pm: “Stories on the couch PLEASE mom” I’m trying to stop what I am doing more and read to her when she asks me too. I do love it and I know it’s the most important I just get into my tasks sometimes and don’t want to stop. I’m working on it still.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

12:27pm: Dad was hungry at the hospital and I was trying to take him some food and Oliver didn’t want to go. He was too tired to walk apparently. I have a hard time with that kind of silliness. I’m trying to be patient thru it but definitely still working on that.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

2:27pm: Norah and I both needed a bang trim SO bad. They were in both of our eyes. So glad  Carrie could quickly do it today. Ollie played across the street at Sage’s for 15 minutes while we got it trimmed.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

3:38pm: He came home and immediately started on some homework. I was pleased he did it without me pestering him if he had any.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

4:01pm: I have enrichment and a Judo BBQ tonight so I have to plan ahead for the food to both of them. I’m taking Roasted Yams and Sweet Potatoes for my favorite thing recipe for Enrichment. Me planning head is definitely something I’m still working on.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

4:04pm: Lucy entertaining the little kids as always. She loves to do it and we all love it.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

4:14pm: Lucy has softball in Cardston tonight. I’m not going because of Judo and Enrichment (I got someone to coach tonight for me). She was packing some snacks and money and her ball glove.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

5:08pm: Now it’s time for Soccer for Eli. Wedneday’s are our busiest days of the week. (They’ll be better now that Judo will finish tonight.) Every night before soccer Eli asks if he has to go. We put him in it because he begged to be. Now he complains almost every day. We are doing it anyways because he made a commitment. That is something to learn and hopefully as young as possible. We’re still working on it.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

6:25pm: We’re 25 minutes late for the Judo bbq. I just finished baking the cookies for the dessert. I didn’t get around to them until now. Alden snapped this shot of me rushing into the van and I’m glad he took one of me today.

The night kept going until way later  and that was our Wednesday.

WEEK IN THE LIFE 2016| TUESDAY WORDS + PICTURES

All week long I’m participating in a documentary project about my family called “Week in the life” spearheaded by the amazing Ali Edwards. This week I’m capturing and recording about our lives and then hopefully next week I’ll be putting together my album (but it’s more likely I will be doing it in a few weeks since this is crazy spring soccer, softball and end of school season.) But for today, here was our Tuesday.

Kids were much happier today and I was grateful. The just started out playing with each other and kinda keep doing it all day.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

One thing I am trying to teach my kids is to clean up after themselves. One small step we are working on is putting away the cereal and their bowl in the morning. (And especially the milk!) We’re still working on it.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

A better shot of the morning before the bus routine between Lucy and the littles. Air pound-its.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

Boys off to the bus. Alden goes up early to the school often with Uncle Brad to shoot basketball. But today it didn’t work out. He’s working on improving his skills on the court.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

Norah helping me water my mother’s day plants. They always die in the first week but this year I’m trying to keep them alive. We’re working on it.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

I got in my shower and these two were doing the “lights on, fan on, lights off, fan off” over and over and over. They finally just went away and I didn’t know what trouble they were getting into. They showed up with these (and I opened them and they left the room so I could get dressed) and then when  I came out they had drank almost all of them. They were supposed to each have one. We’re still working on that.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

Norah wouldn’t get in the tub without a story. So Oliver brushed, she bathed and I read out loud.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just RhondaEli is constantly bringing big piles of books to the bathroom. I have asked over and over and over for him not to do it. Especially not to drop them in the pee zone (the nasty area around the toilet where boys sometimes hit with their bad aim). We’re definitely still working on that still.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

Prayer time before lunch. They asked to watch a movie while they ate today and so I said “sure why not.” Some days neither one of these two will close their eyes or fold their arms. This actually was practice after the prayer. Some days we have to practice again after the prayer is over. We’re still working on that.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

They saw me working on my memory keeping presentation for this weekend so they got all excited to see their own baby albums. They also had a lot of fun looking through our wedding album. I’m done Norah’s up to one and Oliver’s to about day 5 of his life. I’m still working on both.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

More evidence of still working on the let’s clean up after ourselves concept. I’m trying to not let emotion get into the mix too. I’m still working on that a LOT.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

Lucy always loves to talk to everyone when she gets home. A chat about what she did and show us things she brought home. It’s totally cute.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

A screen is like a magnet around here. It was Lucy’s turn to use the iPad and everyone else was crowding around it. It’s not my favorite.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

Eli had to get his last filing filled. He had two other ones filled a few weeks ago. After that first dentist visit he was refusing to brush his teeth. When I asked him why he wouldn’t he told me the dentist could just fix his teeth later. This kid is tricky. We’re still working on the teeth brushing thing (and the listening to mom thing).

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

After school today was drive here, drive there, and back. Eli to dentist, and back, Lucy to cello and back, then to activity days and Alden and Dad to the temple.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

I love that she’s getting into the cello more. She’s working on it and I love it.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

These three little buddies have tons of fun together. I love it.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

A little help from dad and Eli’s double knot in his shoes.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

Her pink ruffle skirt, her messy hair and too long bangs, her sprinkle of freckles across her nose and cheeks, her fake grin. ? I love this sweet little girl so much.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

His prize from the dentist was this tent. He really wants to fly a kite and have a good experience. He almost had it tonight.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

I had to go out to do Relief Society visits this evening and Dad was at the temple with Alden so sweet Lucy had to do bedtime for me. When I came home Oliver was in my bed. At least everyone was asleep.

Week in the Life 2016| Monday Words + Pictures

I started documenting my week yesterday for the week in the life project spearheaded by Ali Edwards. It’s my second year participating and I love love love my album that I ended up with last year and so I’m happily playing along again this year! These are my words and photos to document our day yesterday. Now it was a hard day. We were up in the night with two different kids and they were both crying a big portion of the day. I was very spent by supper time but I kept capturing even if it wasn’t a perfect day. It was one of “those” days that make mothering hard that are certainly a part of motherhood. And because of that completely worth documenting.
Night time wake ups were 2am with a peed in bed by Oliver. Dad took care of that one. And then at 3:30am with Norah who “just needed a little milk please”. And then everyone up for the day at 615am. We were both so tired.
Monday-9323-1

6:24am: I can’t remember the last time I got out of bed and Eli wasn’t up. He is ALWAYS the first one up in the house. He’s often here snuggled in his fuzzy blanket reading.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

7:12 am: The other kids are up for scripture study and breakfast.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

7:19am: We usually have scriptures all together at the table but today we were all feeling drowsy and tired so some were on the couch, Alden was eating his breakfast. We read loud and made it work.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

7:23am: Oliver was showing Norah how to meditate. I have no idea where even learns some of the things he knows.  Eli had to show how he did it next.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

7:40am: I couldn’t find Lucy and she wasn’t answering the calling for the bus so I went down to find her and here she was reading. This girl loves her books.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

7:47am: Eli: “Mom can you just PLEASE help me with my backpack. I can’t fit everything in it.”

Me: “Well then you must have something else in it.”

Eli: “No I don’t.” I dig around and find a sandwich container filled with dirty socks. Classic Eli.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

7:54am: Lucy has this routine with the littles. She does air high fives, air hugs and air pound its. And they all giggle while they do it.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

8:48am: It’s often a battle to get kids in the tub around here. And today I didn’t win with Norah. But Ollie had too. (peed the bed last night) After Ollie couldn’t walk (typical post bath behavior with him) because he was just SO COLD.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

8:52am: Still couldn’t get him to just get dressed to get warm.

Week in the Life 2016 | Words + Photos | Just Rhonda

8:58am “Mom can I PLEASE call a friend?” (It’s been a constant question since about 8am)

9:00am: She loves bouncing on that bed of hers. One day when we get it off the floor she might have even more fun 😉

10:19 am: There has been fighting all morning between these two today. And I am about at my limit. I was trying to take a picture of Oliver and she walked over and hit him. We’re all tired and it’s showing.

10:28am: I especially need some extra help today from above.

10:48am: Let’s try making something to distract the crying and be happy.

6:31pm: Norah likes to sit on a stool at the table and we are not fans of it because she keeps putting her feet on the table. And it is a constant battle. She is really short so I can see wanting to be higher. Guess I shouldn’t have gotten rid of the booster seat.

Week in the Life 2015 | Tuesday in Album

Next week I’ll be participating in a fun project called a “Week in the Life” headed up by the talented Ali Edwards. I did it last year and really enjoyed it. I even finished my whole mini album for the week but ended up never sharing it on here. So as I prepare to participate again I thought I’d share my album from the last time I did it. And next week I’ll be capturing my week. I’ve included a few thoughts I had after accomplishing it.

Thoughts on recording this whole project:

• I had thought previously about attempting a week in the life. I didn’t know if I could keep up with it and capture our week. But I went in wanting to really give it a try. I ended up really enjoying it.

• My kids were thrown off after the first day that I kept taking so many pictures as they are already used to the 15 on the 15th that I do each month. I found that it was hard after the second day to keep shooting so much. But I love all that I did capture.

• I did not take my camera out of the house when I left for shopping and so there are not as many pictures on that afternoon and I don’t mind that. It is ok. This time I want to include more of the out of the house activities of our family too.

• I got a lot more pictures on the first couple days. That’s ok.

• One of my very favorite things that happened was that my ever supportive husband took notes and thoughts about what he did during some of the days. I included it straight as is and i LOVE that he did it and that I could include it in the album. That adds so much. His thoughts too. Love love love it.

And on those notes, here is my Tuesday album. I loved adding lots of layers and I’ll be doing that again!

I’m still I plugging away at my December Daily. I am SO Close to finishing (yippee!)  So back today I’m sharing more pages and tomorrow I’ll hopefully be able to finish this thing off! 🙂

One thing story I shared in my album wasn’t at all festive, but was about my grandma Stasiuk ended up in the hospital. I wanted to document it because it’s important.

December Daily | Just Rhonda

The middle card that says 4 generations flipped over. I love love love the picture on the bottom right side. It’s a photo of Norah’s, Mine, my mom’s and my grandma’s hands all together.

December Daily | Just Rhonda

This page is one of my favorite spreads. I love love kids art and I wanted to save a spot for all of the christmas art that came home to our house. So much fun art at Christmas time. I just scanned them all and printed them smaller to fit the spots. The little card in the middle turns over.

December Daily | Just Rhonda

The middle card flipped over to the left.

December Daily | Just Rhonda

Every year our kids see Santa at our ward Christmas party. It’s my favorite way to have them see him. It’s not too long of waiting in line. Win-win.

December Daily | Just Rhonda

For the 14th I had a couple stories. An ornament that is very special to me, Our yearly snowman pizza and our little live tree we had in the front room.

December Daily | Just Rhonda

The next story is all about all the Christmas baking. Lots of treats made around here. And I took a lot of pictures of them. 🙂 Again the middle card can be flipped. I love the Ali Edwards digital brushes that I added onto various pictures. The “eating” stamp on the biscotti.

December Daily | Just Rhonda

On the other side of the middle card more pictures of cookies. The “baking treats” and the “Oh what fun” are both also Ali Edwards digital stamps.

December Daily | Just Rhonda

The story for the 16th is not really Christmasy either. It’s a great story though. It’s all about Norah and Lucy and their little spa. It’s about the cutest thing around and I love that Lucy is willing to do it for Norah whenever she asks.

December Daily | Just Rhonda

A little Eliscapade for the 17th. Him cutting his hair at school….

December Daily | Just Rhonda

Writing online to Santa emails for the 18th.

December Daily | Just Rhonda

Lots of stories documented so far in this album. 🙂

December Daily 2015: Day 6-10

Yesterday I shared pages 2-5 of my December Daily. Today I’m sharing the next 4.

Day 6: Documenting the Christmas season but I wanted to make sure that I document the feeling and spirit of the season. The TRUE meaning. So for the first Sunday  in December I documented a devotional we listened to on Sunday night.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

The little tag flipped over.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

The middle 4×6 card has a cute little picture of Norah on the back.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

I love these printed clear pages with the gold sayings. So lovely.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

I made the two cards on the right side. I wanted some cards that had a spiritual touch. Both are super simple.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

Day 7: Sharing our family evening where we had friends over and made Rice Krispie Nativities. Lots of fun with treats and friends and so important to document.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

In the middle of the page is a 4×6 picture added in with a card on the back side.

DecemberDaily2015-21

I stamped and white embossed the “peace joy & love” stamp. It’s on a pop dot so it’s up above.

December Daily 2015 | Just RhondaDay 8:  Documenting the story of setting up our tree and the falling over of the tree that same night.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

I LOVE adding in quotes from my kids. And this one from Alden totally made me giggle.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

In the middle of the page I made a booklet with a picture on the front and then it opened inside to tell the story.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

I thought I was super smart to think of using my “HOHOHOH” stamp upside down as a “OHOHOHOH” for the tree falling over.  😉

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

On the back side I left I had pictures of the kids doing the decorating.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

Day 9: Documenting a couple different things for this day. Watching the movie Elf with my big kids for the first time as well as having a Poinsettia around the house. I added the “tis the season” right on my phone with the Rhonna app. (Which is awesome!)

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

Adding in a snowflake snowman that Eli made that I just loved and my favorite (and I think everyone’s favorite) quote from the movie Elf.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

On the backside I added in a very lovely picture Oliver drew of the nativity. I love love love it and I love that he wrote his name himself on it too.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

Day 10: Eli in the grade 2 school Christmas play. He was a wise man and he looooved it. Another one of those gold touched clear pages from the kit.

December Daily 2015 | Just RhondaI just added in the little tag for the date of the page.
December Daily 2015 | Just RhondaThe “Joy to the World” filler card is a printed card from the Project Life Christmas kit.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

Up to day 10 and Moving on! 🙂

December Daily 2015: Day 2-5

I’m playing catch up with my december daily. Both doing it AND sharing it 😉 So here are pages 2 thru 5.

Day 2: The advent calendars that I got for the kids from the local pharmacy a day late.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

Day 3: All about the cookie exchange that I go to every year at my friend Marie’s.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

I took a picture of all the cookies laid out and then labeled them all.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

The small happy holidays circle was from a printable that I found online and then I cut it out and layered with a circle punched out of cute sparkly patterned paper.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

The other side of the page with the middle card flipped.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

Day 4: Sharing the story of Alden and Lucy building a lego nativity for the Festival of Nativities. It was one of my favorite stories of the whole holiday season this year.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

Lots of fun using the small 2×2 page protectors.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

Flipped over middle one to show another great piece from the Ali Edwards main December Daily kit.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

I did a big 8×8 picture of the nativity and labeled it in Photoshop.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

Day 5: All about the our tree hunting trip. I loved this day and I love this spread. Lots of fun.December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

Love using that little picture with the cute stripped washi tape.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

I did lots of layers on this page. Lots to turn and check out.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

Another small piece to turn over and see.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

I had fun with the Ali Edwards paint and screens for the Joy on the card. The fillers in the 2×2 page protectors were from some small pieces from a Christmas Project Life kit as well as a Merry Christmas card from a printable.

December Daily 2015 | Just Rhonda

So much fun to document our december!

December Daily 2015 | Day One

I’m sharing more of my December Daily album documenting our holiday seasons. This is page one. The story I shared for Day one is about our tradition of snowman pancakes. And this year I forgot, but two of my kids reminded me that morning. So I pulled it together for them.

December Daily 2015| Just Rhonda

Their favorite part is the bacon scarf. But really who doesn’t love bacon 😉

December Daily 2015| Just Rhonda

I’m loving these big numbered tags!!

December Daily 2015| Just RhondaI’m also loving adding in my gold foiled pieces from my Minc!!! Pretty! The Date stamp is from Kerri Bradford! (I LOVE her stamps!!)

December Daily 2015 | Opening Pages

I’m playing along this month with the amazing Ali Edwards and her fantastic December Daily, which is essentially a project to document one story for each day of December. I bought a kit from Ali called the main kit and I’m loving it. I’ve added in other things to spice it up. Like using my lovely Heidi Swapp Minc and the little pieces that I got at Michael’s.

This is my title page. The background paper is from the AE Main kit. And the numbers and the circle I added on top after running them through the Minc. Love that gold.

December Daily 2015| Just Rhonda

Shiny and lovely. 😉

December Daily 2015| Just Rhonda

On the next page I did a little write up about why I am participating in this little project. I’m loving this shiny silver paint and the screen that came in the main kit. So much fun to use! Ali had this page as a free printable on her blog and I added my journaling in photoshop and then added the paint and washi tape and chipboard star on top.

December Daily 2015| Just Rhonda

This was the first time I actually tried using one of the screens that I haven’t received in my kid subscription and I loved it!! I’ll be using more in the future!

December Daily 2015| Just Rhonda

This is the whole spread. On the right is a thick printed plastic. On the top I added one of the wooden painted trees with a small stamp on top from Keri Bradford. (I love her stamps!)

December Daily 2015| Just Rhonda

I’ll be sharing more of my December Daily soon!

Week in the Life 2015 | Monday in Album

Well I am back from my lovely vacation in France. And soon I will be sharing more about that trip. But for today I’m sharing a project I was working on before I left. My Week in the Life Album. Really I followed a lot of Ali’s ideas. And I think for my first year that worked well for me. There are things I did similar to her and things I did totally different. First up is the title page. I knew when I downloaded this picture I wanted to use it. It was the only all of us shot from the whole week and I wanted to use one.

2015 Week in the Life Album | Just Rhonda

I did a big picture separating each day – ending and beginning. And then added in lots of extra pictures too using the tabs. I liked Ali’s idea of using the Some day and most days and I used a lot of that for my journaling. I didn’t end up with tons of words in here yet. I might add more later, but for now I am just adding bits here and there.

2015 Week in the Life Album | Just RhondaI really liked have the different layers in the album. Totally fun!
2015 Week in the Life Album | Just Rhonda

I am kind of not loving my handwriting lately. And at the same time I am trying to get over myself and just use it.

2015 Week in the Life Album | Just Rhonda

With 5 kids I really wanted to try and capture all of them the whole week. That makes for a lot of people to capture! But lots more photo ops I guess.

2015 Week in the Life Album | Just Rhonda

I got the kit for the week but then also used lots of my other of Ali’s kits that I get from my monthly subscription.
2015 Week in the Life Album | Just Rhonda

I tried to be IN some of the pictures too. Not always my favorite thing but I am here too. 😉

2015 Week in the Life Album | Just Rhonda

The little 2×2 pockets threw me for a loop at first, but then I found I liked them. You can add a whole lotta pictures in them.

2015 Week in the Life Album | Just Rhonda

See, I need more journaling here… but I’ll get to it. For now I want to keep the momentum going I had and finish it. Right after I catch up on my travel laundry!

2015 Week in the Life Album | Just Rhonda

I love these little pictures of Norah getting ready for nap time. Timers are awesome.

2015 Week in the Life Album | Just Rhonda

Potty training is SO a part of our life right now.

2015 Week in the Life Album | Just Rhonda

A few more extra pictures here and  there.

2015 Week in the Life Album | Just Rhonda

Loved getting this shot of my hubby doing something he loves for the final spot on the day.

2015 Week in the Life Album | Just Rhonda

Mostly done it… I might add little bits here and there and some journaling. Now off to Tuesday!

Week in the Life 2015 | Thursday Words & Photos

I’m participating all week long in a photo project headed by the lovely Ali Edwards called Week in the Life where we document our daily lives and at the end we will create a small album that documents our week.

_________________________________________________________________________

I’m loving these daily snuggling morning pictures we are taking. Today’s was taken by dad. I’m loving the consistency of them and the similarities and the differences. And of COURSE I’m loving the morning snuggles!

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

Bed head and all. Here it is in it’s glory 🙂 Norah likes to be carried like this in the morning. None of this on the hip carrying. She wants to be front and  center will full snuggles. If I try and switch her she says “no not like that” and  tries to climb to this position. (which as you could image works well if I am carrying anything else)

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

This summer I have let my kids do learning computer games in the morning. It is a reading program that Oliver and Eli are both in. Lucy usually helps Oliver if he needs it. It’s really cool to see my 3 year old learning to read. We’ll see how he progresses. I have no expectations other than him learning to enjoy it.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

Pulling out last nights curlers. We were going to have family pictures this day, but the weather wasn’t very sunny and that’s kind of what  I wanted. And the photographer was feeling a little under the weather. So we decided to postpone to a different day. So instead Lucy just had super cute hair for fun. 🙂

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

I told Eli to go have a bath. He asked if he could wear his swimming suit which I said no to. This was his almost obedience. He wore only his swimming shirt in the tub. Classic Eli.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

This entire summer this basement place has been a disaster. Like every toy out disaster. I am looking forward to school time for having more clean places around.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

I went shopping for clothes for our family pictures today and I left the camera at home and asked Dad to capture some of it (Thursdays are his day off). The ukelele is usually sitting on top of our fireplace. Dad likes to pick to up all the time and play it. It kind of drives me crazy that it doesn’t really have a place to actually be put but I do love listening to him playing it often.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

A few weeks ago after talking with Alden about music, Dad decided he needed to do a little music education. He’s introducing him to music from all different genres and times and trying to teach him to love music the way that he does. It’s neat to see Alden’s tastes developing and I like to add in a few here and there that I think he should listen too.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

I decided I wanted to make floral crowns for our pictures when we do them. So after I got home I made some at the kitchen table while I ate my lunch.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

Grandma stopped by and Norah and her played a giggly game of Peek a boo. It was completely cute. Some days my kids take a bit to warm up to grandma and some days they run to her with open arms. Today they were slow.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

Lucy got home from her birthday party at Jaycie’s house and she tried on the floral crown on. It fits and I love it!

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

My kids love this thing. And Norah calls it the Looker.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

Me in the kitchen. Another every day thing.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

Norah doesn’t really get to use the iPad. It’s a quiet time thing we do when she is sleeping. Some days I will let her and some days I won’t. Today I did.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

You know it’s garden season when my fridge looks like this. It’s got a whole lot of green. (The toy bucket I used for picking beans.) I’ve got to do something with all this stuff and freeze some of it.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

That was our Thursday. You can see my Monday here and Tuesday here and Wednesday here.

There are lots of people playing along with this and you can see more if you go over to Ali’s blog. After I capture my week I’ll be putting my album together and sharing it.

Week in the Life 2015 | Wednesday Words & Photos

Here is day three : Wednesday. It started out early for some of the family. Eli has always been an early riser. And sometimes this summer we’ve been staying up late and he still wakes up early and then gets sleepy so he gets out a blanket and falls asleep in the front room. At night I open all the windows to cool off the house and every morning he turns on the fireplace to heat it back up. HA! Stinker!

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

This is another thing I wanted to capture this week. Eli does this early every morning when he gets his own breakfast. I’ve tried to tell him to put it all away but again he doesn’t.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

Every morning this week I’m getting a snuggling picture.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

We had to check the garden today and found some lovely cucumbers.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

Lucy loves hanging out in her room drawing. Today she was writing a play. And apparently there is even going to be auditions. Then she leans towards me and says “I don’t even know why!”

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

Snuggling after owes is a big part of motherhood. At least at our house. I signaled to Lucy to pick up my camera and capture this for me.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

I love experimenting with doughs lately. And yesterday I was making baguettes. I make them relatively often. My kids are pretty used to it. Well today when I was making them one of the funniest things was my conversation with Eli.

Eli: what are you making mom? Me: Baguettes. Eli: Why don’t you make Small-ettes? 🙂

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

Lucy has a strong motherly instinct and i LOVE it. Today I caught her entertaining the littles multiple times. Today she was teaching them now to make funny faces. And they ate it up.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

To go along with my baguettes I wanted to try a spinach and artichoke dip. But I actually grew the artichokes this time. I love trying things in the kitchen. I spend a lot of time here. I love trying recipes and adapting them and I hope that my kids feel very comfortable here. That we enjoy being together here. And we get to eat tasty food. (win-win)

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

Regan and I have a book we are filling out together. And some of the questions make us laugh. He gave it to me and it’s just another way that I know he knows and loves me. That he would know I would love a book like this.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

Oliver has been on a iPad break. Im trying to use it as leverage for potty training. Today he got to use it because yesterday he actually used the toilet all day. This potty training thing has been turning him into a bit of a monster. I hope he figures it out soon.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

Working on those baguettes.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

Another day, another board game. He LOVES risk. Love, loves it. And every time it reminds me of when I was a kid and how often we would play it. For HOURS!

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

I’m trying a method I read about with  rocks in my oven to create better steam for my baguettes. When I asked Eli to go collect some rocks for me and I said what they were for he didn’t even react funny….. and neither did Regan when he saw them on the pan. HAHAHAHA. Love this family of my that puts up with all my experiments.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

I love it when the come out fresh and hot. And I hate it when they stick.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

Lucy’s fish died. When she realized she was sad for a second and then said out loud to herself “Well, I guess fish die. Oh well.” I’m glad she wasn’t upset by it at all. And frankly Im not sad at all either. Im not a pet person and I didn’t want to take care of it anymore.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

Teenage years mean lots of food. They made “epic” sandwiches. And then Alden took about 10 pictures on my camera of his sandwich.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

Nap time ended. And she did NOT Want me to take her picture. She wanted to snuggle.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

Lucy loves to help me in the kitchen. And today she helped with making a Lemon Cheesecake. She’s a big fan of lemon and cheesecake so she picked this out. I love that she loves to help.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

Sage stopped by for a visit and that ALWAYS puts a smile on Ollie’s face. I love that she makes him so happy. She’s great to have a round since then Norah plays too and the three of them run around giggling. It’s adorable.

Week in the Life | Just RhondaWe found a pocket of light in my bedroom.
Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

After work we got to go to a BBQ with some good friends. We all went to Medical school together (all the hubbys) and then most of us did residency together too. Our kids are growing up together and it’s lovely when we can fit in all the schedules to get together. It’s hard between 5 doctors to find a day that everyone is home for. But we do it and it’s lovely every time.

Week in the Life | Just RhondaWeek in the Life | Just Rhonda

Curlers for Lucy’s hair before bed.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

Editing in the evening again. I’m behind and I’m trying to catch up.

Week in the Life | Just Rhonda

That was our Wednesday. You can see my Monday here and Tuesday here.

Week In The Life 2015 | Tuesday Words & Photos

Today is my second installment of the Week in the Life project that I am participating in with Ali Edwards leading the way.

So I found that the first day I was taking pictures I took a lot more. Part of it was a that I didn’t know what to capture since I had just captured what I felt was a lot the day before. My kids playing and being around the house. And I guess it was harder the second day. It’ll be interesting as the week progresses how hard it will be or if I will fall into a groove. I haven’t done a whole week before so this is a learning curve. That being said, this is our life and I want to document it and record what it is right now. Where we are.

Tuesday was our 15 year wedding anniversary and my hobby being the good guy that he is, made me breakfast in bed. I love how he shows me in little things that he loves me. That is what love is. Consistent little things day in and day out. All those little things add up to feeling loved and feeling safe and connecting. Over the past 15 years we have grown and shared a lot: moves, pregnancy and babies, newborns and crying toddlers, a whole lot of schooling and no money, getting lost and traveling, tears and laughter, failure and successes. Him and me committing to show up together every single day is love. And I am so very very thankful that we have each other. We have such a good marriage and for that I will be eternally grateful.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Just after dad brought in the sandwich, Norah of course followed him in to find me and needed some snuggles. I liked that this shot showed our chair, with the clothes all over it. It’s something that Regan always does and we joke about it. How I could let it bother me or just laugh about it. I choose the later.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

I think I’ll get a morning snuggle shot the whole week long. It’s such a lovely part of the day.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Often when I come out of my room I find Lucy doing something creative. Today it was designing clothes. Creativity is running through this one strong and I love that we have a home were she is given lots of opportunities to create whatever she wants.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Off to convince Norah to get dressed. Lately she likes to sleep in her clothes and then doesn’t want to change in the morning because “I’m already dressed!” She has decided she wants to wear underwear (pull ups) and be a “big girl”. Her and Lucy were discussing who was on her pull up. Lucy and Norah’s relationship is such a lovely thing to watch.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Quick trip to the potty for both littles. I hate potty training. Like hate hate it. I hate doing it. I hate thinking about it. I hate people telling me their opinions about how and when I should be doing it. I hate cleaning up poop. I hate fighting with Oliver to even think about doing it. I can not wait until we are all free and clear of diapers.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Hair cuts for all three boys. I used to try and go to some of the ladies in town in their homes but I’m totally a last minute person. It’s just easier to call up town and get an appointment. They have consistent hours. It works better for us. Watching my three boys get their hair cuts you get a slight insight into their personalities. Eli has a discussion with whoever is cutting his hair. He shares and talks and discusses and makes friends. Oliver is serious (and often grumpy about it) and can’t wait to be done. Alden tolerates someone else touching him and the noise of the clippers and will answer one word answers to every question he is asked.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Norah has recently started carting around little stuffies and a blanket. She often wants a soother and her “bottle” (sippy cup) too. Hauling them and dropping them here and there and getting upset about it. It’s cute to see her snuggle them. It keeps her my little one.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just RhondaI have five brothers and they loved to pester. And I remember complaining to my mother about why they were always doing it. Alden never really was like that but the older he has gotten he is more and more into pestering and it drives me crazy. I am constantly talking to him about keeping the peace and not making kids freak out (just as often as I am talking to the younger ones about not freaking out when he does pester). I was chasing him around the kitchen and smothering him with hugs and kisses to punish him. We were both giggling and laughing and all of the other kids watching were giggling too. I felt like it was a victory since I stopped the fighting in a positive way. (win)
Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Lunch was “cheese girls” as the two littles call it. I was trying to be fun with the whole butterfly thing and it worked because they both ate it all. (win)

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Lately Norah and Oliver love to play with their food together. Today the grilled cheese became dinosaurs who were having a conversation. It was adorable and totally messy.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just RhondaAnother Alden thing is to mess around with the phones. He loves to change the names of them constantly so that they are called Alden Rules or Eli Smells or something silly constantly. Now he was changing the time on them just to mess me up. It used to make me mad,  but I’ve just let it go. I have to let him be a stinker in some areas, he is a teenage boy.
Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

We decided to do our back to school supply shopping before nap time. And of course the usual fight for the front seat started. They sit on each other and Eli will yell and they won’t move. So I usually kick them both to the back and let Lucy sit in it.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

I love that I can get all my school supplies up town. It’s a whole lot easier and quick. And I like to support this small town we live in. I feel positive about that. It’s a good town and I want the business to thrive and do well, so I support it.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just RhondaNorah is the most snuggly before nap time or bed time. She wants only one or two books. Always with her pile of soothers and her sippy. I love the few quiet moments we have together. Some days Oliver stands beside us and listens to the stories. But often it is just me and Norah.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

A little mine craft together. I have a love hate relationship with iPads. I hate that my kids love them so much but they are such fun things. At least they were playing together and talking the whole time.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Eli is constantly off to play with friends. And today it was his best friend Jayden. They are two of a kind. And I love that we live in a small town where he can ride to their house by himself. He is easily my most independent child. Almost sometimes scarily. I can text his friends mom and say he’s on his way and she’ll text back when he gets there.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

This is about how we both feel about potty training.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

I love to see my kids picking up board games with friends without my suggestion. I love that they are interacting and being together. It’s really my favorite. Today the Coon kids and them played Settlers of Catan.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Breakfast for dinner for the kids. We were going out on a date to celebrate our anniversary. I love that we can leave our kids to babysit each other and that Alden and Lucy are capable to do it. It’s REALLY lovely. It used to be a worry about if they would be okay getting everyone to bed but they have gotten it now multiple times. And I love that it gives me and Regan a lot more freedom. And the older two earn a little money for doing it. They work together and then spend a little time together watching a show. It’s totally a win all the way around.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Just before we left on our date Lucy told me she made us a gift. And then she whipped these out. She is such a gift giver. She loves to give gifts especially things that she has made. And I love them. That is us.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Bowling with another couple. We like to say that we fell in love at a bowling alley. Really it was that Regan actually realized that I liked him and that he liked me back. We went with another couple that was married the same day as us a year later. I love going out with friends. We had so much fun together.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

I don’t think I’ve beat Regan at a sport in a long time. Kinda funny 😉

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Ending the evening with tasty food is my favorite too. I love going out to eat. Trying new restaurants and seeing what they can make. We tried Miro and I had a Roasted Beets, Orange Segments, Arugula for an appetizer, Filet Mignon, Mushroom Ragout, Truffle Oil, Scalloped Potatoes for my entree and this chocolate mousse for dessert. All of it was SO stinking tasty! Such a lovely way to celebrate our anniversary.

Wondering how I got this well lit shot? We were in a dark restaurant. I had two people hold their phones on either side with their lights on and then I shot straight down onto the plate. Works wonderfully as long as the people you are with aren’t phased by holding their lights up.

Week In The Life 2015 | Monday Words & Photos

I’m playing along this week with the lovely Ali Edwards in her Week in the Life project. Basically to sum it up Im documenting our entire week. Like all day long. Writing and photographing things that happen and at the end I’m compiling a little album all about a week in our lives at this stage. Documenting where we are RIGHT now. Today I’m sharing my words and photos from yesterday. This isn’t all my photos as I ended up taking close to 250 and then culled thru and ended up with only 143. 🙂 I know i won’t use them all but I’m just taking all day long anyways. I love pictures of our everyday life.

My details of shooting: I use a Nikon D800 and I rotated between lenses. A lot of them were taken with my 50mm because it is such a great indoor everyday lens. But I used my wide-angle (16-24) a couple of times and my biggest zoom (70-200). All my editing was done in Lightroom with my favorite Fernweh presets that I love and use most of the time.

Here is my Monday. My days start early because I have early risers. Two especially. And unfortunately Oliver usually wakes in a bad mood. He just takes a bit before he is happy. And he always loves to hold my hand to the kitchen to get his breakfast. He often won’t let dad get it, just mom. And he pretty much always has mini wheats. That is his morning routine. (and so it is mine too.) I get it and set him up and then I always try and crawl back into bed. Some days it works out and some days it doesn’t. Eli and Oliver come in and out of my room constantly from the time they get up. Asking questions and wanting to snuggle or just pester us.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Norah sleeps in usually. And when she wakes up she calls from her crib “Mommmmmmmmmmmyyyyyyyy” Some days she’ll let Eli or Dad or Lucy get her out but often she wants me. Lately she’s more willing to let Eli get her out. And if anyone else does she comes straight to snuggle with me in my bed. I LOVE this shot that Eli captured. He took a whole lot of them and this one worked.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

As we snuggle Dad was already showering and getting ready for his day. And Eli starts playing in my blankets. Hiding, tickling my feet, trying to scare Norah, etc.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Then often the bed jumping begins.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

I reluctantly leave my bed and head to the kitchen to feed Norah and find something myself. I find Lucy in the kitchen with my breakfast already made. That girl has such a big heart.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

I made a summer rule that Alden has to be up by 10am. He has always been the best sleeper in our family and now as he is becoming a teenager (gasp) he loves to sleep (just like his mom) and he would sleep until noon if I left him. I have to wake him or send one of the kids too most days. (School is gonna be a whole lotta pain in a few weeks!)

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Across the street from us lives a lovely older couple who have adopted my kids. Eli started Trick or treating there every day a while ago. And now my other kids do it too. They often go over in their pjs and come home with a sucker.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Alden eats breakfast like this everyday. He is a man of routine: Honey nut cheerios, same red bowl, two bowls of them, always wrapped in his blanket with his knees up on the stool.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Summer has made housework low on the priority list. And this HAD to happened today!

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Saturday Eli found a little caterpillar in the garden and has been calling it his pet. He is very interested in it and constantly checking on it. His mind is constantly going. He is curious about the world around him and so so smart. And so so so busy.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

I like to hide the markers. Because they always lead to trouble. One of the big kids left them out and Norah and Oliver found them. When I saw and said what are you doing? Oliver replied “Don’t worry mom, we got our bellies too!” And then they both lifted their shirts up at me.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

For lunches we had BLTs. A few months ago I introduced them to Eli since Bacon is one of his favorite foods. All the other kids liked them too so we seem to have them a lot. Now they have changed into different things. Like today, Norah had bacon and pineapple. Oliver and Eli had plain bacon sandwiches. (bun + bacon). Me, Lucy and Alden had regular BLTs.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Laundry is a big part of my life. 5 kids equals a whole lot of laundry. Especially lately with trying to potty train two kids.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Because of the age gap between Alden down to Oliver it’s not very often that all three boys are doing one thing together. But everyone and a while something magical happens and they get into something together. It’s my favorite when this magical moments happen.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Norah has the same nap time routine every day. She loves her zippy cup (which she calls her bottle) and one soother for her mouth and one or two in her hand. She always wants me to put her to bed even if dad is here. She’s totally a mommas girl.
Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Dad had morning office so he came home for a little bit before having to leave again. I used to get upset because in my brain I thought that morning office meant he could be at home. But that’s not the life of a doctor. There is so much paperwork to do and specialists to check with and labs to check and people to call and old folks homes to visit. It’s a whole lot more than his office hours. I do a lot better with it now. When he shows up we are glad to see him and we enjoy him but I try to expect him home at any certain time.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Alden and a friend went on a big bike trip. He is a total homebody and I’m constantly telling him to find a friend. I am not a homebody and I know he’s not like me. We are constantly trying to find balance of how much socialness is good for him.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

A while ago I bought some kids golf clubs and my kids love to just play it on the grass out front. Today Lucy and about 5 other girls were playing it. Hitting them and running to get them over and over.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

I usually end up baking something every day and Today it was brownies. I’m constantly trying new recipes too. My kids love to help and often they will make suggestions about what I should make.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Dad came home again and we went out to the lake. We weren’t moving as fast as dad would have liked and so we were a little rushed. We got half way to the lake and dad realized that we were almost out of gas. He really didn’t want to turn around and so we just risked it. I didn’t think we could make it. The kids were unaware of it all.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

The older kids played and road on the tube, while Grandma and Aunty Lindsay and I all sat on the shore and Norah played around us.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

She was happy and content. She is often surrounded by big loud personalities. It is fun to be alone with just her and see how fun and cute she is. She just plays and snuggles and giggles and chatters.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Dad had to get a couple skis in before we left the lake. He loves it so much. And he really hopes our kids will do it. Im not a skier and I won’t be, but i do hope that my kids can learn to do it and love it like he does.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

Home to bed, a little bit late with a snacky supper and dirt in our toes and smelly towels. Lots of fun.

Week in the Life 2015 | Just Rhonda

That was our Monday.

There are lots of people playing along with this and you can see more if you go over to Ali’s blog. After I capture my week I’ll be putting my album together and sharing it.

My little Summer Joy Mini Album

A couple of my fellow 2015 Project Life Creative Team members are doing a little summer project called My Little Summer Joy. It’s all about documenting the simple joys in summer and I’ve decided to play along. I am keeping it super simple. Using a cute little mini sized Midori Journal. It is small and easy to pack around and finish pages in. I had it and used it. Didn’t plan out much and that’s why I’m loving the project. Using what I have and keeping it simple.  I’m about 11 pages in. And here they are.

Little Summer Joy Mini Album | Just Rhonda

The cover is a stamp from Studio Calico and then colored in with pencil crayons plus a little of my handwriting.

LittleSummerJoy-11

Ninth of July has a JUL  and a hello deliciousness stamp from Kelli Stamps and that’s it! (well plus some Tsukineko ink!)

LittleSummerJoy-12

Tenth of July has a JUL stamp from Kelli Stamps, and some random bits of patterned paper and some Coloring Spray from Heidi Swapp.

LittleSummerJoy-13

My Summer Manifesto page I used watercolors from the background. And then the stamps are old and from Fontwerks and I colored some of them in with pencil crayons. And added my writing on after.

That’s where I am. And it was super simple and lots of fun. I have just been playing in it and just enjoying the process. Which seems perfect for the whole idea of the little simple joys.

How Memory Keeping Makes me a Better Mother

Celebrating Motherhood | Just Rhonda

Today while I am sharing another spread from Feb 22-28, 2015,  I also want to talk a little bit about why memory keeping is important to me as a mother. I feel like it helps me in a few ways.

2015Feb22-28

1. Memory keeping makes me a better mother because tt helps me see the small moments (pockets of joy or tapping of my heart) that happen each day. Doing this makes me happier in not only those small moments but also the bigger scheme of things too. It helps me see my children more clearly. In their goodness and their little quirks.

2015Feb22-285

2. Memory keeping helps my mothering by filling my heart with more gratitude. I see this good life I have, even when things are hard, and see how blessed I am. I know I am blessed but sometimes during the really hard days I forget it. And reminding myself again and again of these small day to day moments show me the hand of God and the joy that runs through it. And documenting the hard exhausting moments makes me thankful that I made it through them and that I have so much help with my good husband and my family around.

2015Feb22-284

3. Memory Keeping makes me a better mother because it gives me a place to write down how I feel. Another avenue to express my love for my family and they can SEE it and FEEL it and READ it. I think it’s another place that my kids can learn about my love for them.

2015Feb22-282

4. Memory Keeping makes me a better mother because it helps me stop and slow down during the day to notice the little people around me. I am 100% a dreamer. I have lists of dreams and ideas (literally) and my head is sometimes in the clouds. Memory keeping keeps me grounded and noticing the lovely people around me more. It centers my mind and uses the creativity in my head towards mothering.

2015Feb22-283

5. Memory keeping makes me a better mother because i have a creative release. Kind of along the same lines as #4 – I need a creative outlet. I go a  bit stir crazy if I don’t get a little creative during my days. I need it to feel like human. It builds up in me and I think this is a very positive outlet! 😉

2015Feb22-288

6. Memory keeping helps me  be a better mother because it helps me to remember. I am totally forgetful. In a lot of ways. And I don’t want to forget the little details of my kids lives. The more kids we added too our family the more I was forgetting even the big stuff. It all kind of blurs together 😉

2015Feb22-287

7. Memory keeping makes me a better mother because it stretches my mind and my own soul. It helps me and challenges me to get it done and work on it.

2015Feb22-286I am genuinely a fan of memory keeping. My story matters. As a mother, as a wife, as a sister, as a human. And I get to play with pretty supplies too… what’s not to love 🙂

December Daily: Days 9-12

More pages to share again today from my December Daily album. It’s amazing how quickly I can make these pages since they are so small. I am really keeping them simple too. I’m keeping it about the stories I want to share with my words and my photos. But even the words, I am not stressing about it and just writing it down. Not worrying about my handwriting or even planning what I am writing. Just explaining the story like I would tell it.

December Daily: Days 4-8

I’m back today to share more spread from my December Daily Album. And I’ve realized that I’m totally in a photo taking slump! Which makes recording one story a day pretty hard! I have taken most on my phone. The older our kids get too the harder it is to just be at home for a Christmas activity each day. There is Young Mens, and ice skating and Bishopric and soccer games and cello lessons. Add that to the fact that the kids are getting older. And Alden finds less excitement in a dollar store christmas game of a ring toss. Even all that is true I am trying to make Christmas something that we think about and especially that we think about the REAL reason we are celebrating this time of year.

December Daily: days 1-3

I made my base pages for my December album a few weeks ago. I made the base pages so that each day it will take less time to get the stories down. This morning I finally took time to sit down and quickly make my first couple pages for the first few days of December. I am only telling one or two stories for each day. Probably one. Maybe more if I have more. I’m kind on a picture taking lull (sometimes that happens and I don’t pick up my camera much for various reasons. Uninspired, feeling self conscious about over sharing, just plain busy, etc) so i don’t have a ton of pictures from the first few days. But I have enough to tell one story each day and that is all that I am wanting. More is okay too.

I only added one picture (that is from Instagram) and a small piece of cute green glitter washi tape. The rest was all done ahead of time.

Supplies: Wooden Letter 1 : Studio Calico; Washi Tape: Willow Washi; 4×6 Grid Card: Becky Higgins; Patterned Paper: DCWV & 3-D sticker both from Michael’s;

DecemberDaily-4739

I added journalling into the Studio Calico card and then the two pictures of the kids enjoying the pancakes.

Supplies: 3×4 Journaling Card & HOHO stamp : Studio Calico;  Patterned Paper: DCWV from Michael’s; Star Circle: Heidi Swapp, Plastic Tabs: Michael’s

DecemberDaily-4742

Added in a page about the advent calendar I went with this year. A simple one of lunch bags with these tags from my friend Rebecca printed off and taped on the front. Then a page with the the kids biggest wishes. I obviously guessed for Norah! 🙂

Supplies: Washi Tape: Willow Washi; Patterned Paper: DCWV from Michael’s; Joy Circle: Heidi Swapp,

DecemberDaily-4745

For day two I wanted to write down how Oliver thinks the men in the Nativity are ninjas. Pretty cute 🙂

Supplies: Washi Tape: Willow Washi; Patterned Paper: DCWV from Michael’s; Circle 2: Rebecca Cooper; Let Merry Making Begin Card: Heidi Swapp, Letter stickers Thickers : American Crafts

December Daily

I’ve wanted to do a December Daily album for a few years but I haven’t really had my stuff together ahead enough to do it! If you din’t know what this is, it’s essentially a mini album scrapbook sharing one story each day for the month of December. This year, I’m trying it. I recovered this binder quite a few years ago with eventually doing something with it. And amazingly enough 😉 I finally am. So here is the beginning of my album.

DecemberDaily-1

Here’s an overview of my bases for my pages. As each day passes (probably each week to be more realistic) I’ll record special events of the season.

decemberdailyspreads

I made some cards for my album and if you want you can download them here.

Have you ever done one of these or wanted too?? I found this great list of all piles of inspiration. Or you can see the Daily December Pinterest board I started.

Stories Matter to me because….

storiesmatter

RLS_3338

I follow Ali Edwards on Instagram and I’ve read her blog for over 10 years. She just did a rebrand of her website. On her instagram she was asking people why stories matter to them. And since I read that it’s been on my mind. I’ve been thinking about it on and off for a week almost.

storiesmatter

Stories matter to me because I want to remember. I want to remember family. I want to remember who I was. I want to remember where I’ve been. I want to remember what I’ve overcome. I want to remember good memories and hard memories and special memories so that one day when I’m old I can look back and remember. I’m a fairly forgetful person and often when I try even remember small details in my life it’s hard and I don’t it’s not something that comes easily to me and so because of that I want to remember. Stories matter to me because I matter.  I matter and my family matters and my individual outlook on life matters.

Stories Matter to Remember

I have lots of stories recording in various ways. Traditional scrapbooks. Blurb Books.
 Stories preserved
And Project Life albums now. All these stories matter to me. And to my kids.
 Looking at PL
storiesmatter
I want to remember stolen moments how my children spoke when they were little phrases they used. Recently I found a little notebook that I had used when Alden was small. In it I had just written down funny things he said. The same kind of silly things I wrote down for Eli in his Eli-ism mini Album.  I wish now that I had done that for the two oldest. But I will do it for Oliver and Norah when they get that age.
The notes left on my pillows in the mornings.
love notes
And found in my sketch books. These are the moments that help me when Im feeling overwhelmed or things are hard. And they are the things that will bring my happiness and joy and a smile to my face when my children are grown and gone.
Love notes 2

I want to remember the first time Lucy made cookies all by herself. And that she decided all on her own to do it. Then she did it and as soon as she was done she got plates and delivered them to the neighbors.
Lucy's First Time making cookies aloneI want to remember spiritual experiences how it felt when I got an answer to prayer. I want to remember quiet moments of testimony that grow. I want to remember how my children reacted when we told them something exciting with happening or when there was a big change in our family. I want to remember inside jokes and conversations with Regan.
And small experiences with each child.
storiesmatter
Remember when
All of these little moments big and small that make up my life for all of the things that I want to remember and through writing down my stories and preserving my life through words and pictures and objects I can keep my stories and my life documented. Stories matter. It is one of the things that gets passed on from generation to generation.  I think it’s fun to make them pretty and add stickers and cute paper. But that’s not the only way to tell stories. Just get them written down.
Stories matter. All of our stories matter.

Quick & Easy Scrapbooking with Templates

A few weeks ago I shared how I use 5 different strategies for memory keeping. One of them I mentioned was Blurb books. I am planning on making a blurb book about our trip to Hawaii. In the past I have done very simple Blurb books but this time around I’m going with a more scrapbooked look. And perfect for that are templates! All you do is open them up and drop your own pictures and patterned “paper”. I added a  few other embellishments on these pages. But all in all all 4 of these pages took me 10 minutes. Now even if you aren’t as familiar as me with Photoshop, after you learn to drop the stuff into the template (which means copying and pasting it in) you’ll be humming in no time!! These templates are all from a lovely designer named Crystal Wilkerson. She has a whole series of them and they are all easy to use. The stitching that is between the pictures came on the template (I didn’t add it) and there are the same ones without it too. Crystal is one of my favorite designers! I got her life planner last year. I have used quite a few of her free project life downloads that she does with Rebecca and Kristina Proffitt each month. Anywho, here are my pages and if you want to go see her templates used on her site or to go and buy the templates.

flowers1flowers2flowers3flowers4

Just in case you are wondering I used other digital stuff from Rhonna Farrer and from freebie digital kits that I got from the now non existing Two Peas in a Bucket website.
