DIY Canada Day Bunting & Flag

I’ve got a couple more cute Canada Day things to share today!! The first up is one completely inspired by the lovely girls over at Lollyjane!  They did an American July 4th Day bunting. So I changed the colors and the order and made a Canadian one!

For the how too go over to Lollyjane! I didn’t have any 3M spray so I just sewed mine instead. And I used some red bias tape along the top. I even put some fancy shiny fabric in the middle 🙂

And the second project for Canada Day is this wooden flag.

A few weeks ago a friend put up on Facebook that her grandpa was tearing down the barn in his backyard. Anyone who wanted some old barn wood could go and pull it off. So my sister in law and I took all out kids out there and they hung out (aka cried) in the vehicles while we pried off piece after piece. We didn’t find this red wood at first. But underneath the outer layer (which was also awesome) was this great red wood!!

The boards were even tongue and groove. So we fit them all together (they were already this length) and then added one board down each side at the back to hold them together. We then cut out a stencil on my Silhouette Cameo. The maple leaf is 17x 17 so I just pieced it together using 4 different pieces. We used contact paper and then did a white wash over the white part. We did a final sealer coat just to make sure it stays how it looks now!

RLS_2878I love the old red paint and I love that it’s warn! This is how it looks right out my front door! RLS_2883

I love showing a little Canadian pride!!
