Here is day three : Wednesday. It started out early for some of the family. Eli has always been an early riser. And sometimes this summer we’ve been staying up late and he still wakes up early and then gets sleepy so he gets out a blanket and falls asleep in the front room. At night I open all the windows to cool off the house and every morning he turns on the fireplace to heat it back up. HA! Stinker!
This is another thing I wanted to capture this week. Eli does this early every morning when he gets his own breakfast. I’ve tried to tell him to put it all away but again he doesn’t.
Every morning this week I’m getting a snuggling picture.
We had to check the garden today and found some lovely cucumbers.
Lucy loves hanging out in her room drawing. Today she was writing a play. And apparently there is even going to be auditions. Then she leans towards me and says “I don’t even know why!”
Snuggling after owes is a big part of motherhood. At least at our house. I signaled to Lucy to pick up my camera and capture this for me.
I love experimenting with doughs lately. And yesterday I was making baguettes. I make them relatively often. My kids are pretty used to it. Well today when I was making them one of the funniest things was my conversation with Eli.
Eli: what are you making mom? Me: Baguettes. Eli: Why don’t you make Small-ettes? 🙂
Lucy has a strong motherly instinct and i LOVE it. Today I caught her entertaining the littles multiple times. Today she was teaching them now to make funny faces. And they ate it up.
To go along with my baguettes I wanted to try a spinach and artichoke dip. But I actually grew the artichokes this time. I love trying things in the kitchen. I spend a lot of time here. I love trying recipes and adapting them and I hope that my kids feel very comfortable here. That we enjoy being together here. And we get to eat tasty food. (win-win)
Regan and I have a book we are filling out together. And some of the questions make us laugh. He gave it to me and it’s just another way that I know he knows and loves me. That he would know I would love a book like this.
Oliver has been on a iPad break. Im trying to use it as leverage for potty training. Today he got to use it because yesterday he actually used the toilet all day. This potty training thing has been turning him into a bit of a monster. I hope he figures it out soon.
Working on those baguettes.
Another day, another board game. He LOVES risk. Love, loves it. And every time it reminds me of when I was a kid and how often we would play it. For HOURS!
I’m trying a method I read about with rocks in my oven to create better steam for my baguettes. When I asked Eli to go collect some rocks for me and I said what they were for he didn’t even react funny….. and neither did Regan when he saw them on the pan. HAHAHAHA. Love this family of my that puts up with all my experiments.
I love it when the come out fresh and hot. And I hate it when they stick.
Lucy’s fish died. When she realized she was sad for a second and then said out loud to herself “Well, I guess fish die. Oh well.” I’m glad she wasn’t upset by it at all. And frankly Im not sad at all either. Im not a pet person and I didn’t want to take care of it anymore.
Teenage years mean lots of food. They made “epic” sandwiches. And then Alden took about 10 pictures on my camera of his sandwich.
Nap time ended. And she did NOT Want me to take her picture. She wanted to snuggle.
Lucy loves to help me in the kitchen. And today she helped with making a Lemon Cheesecake. She’s a big fan of lemon and cheesecake so she picked this out. I love that she loves to help.
Sage stopped by for a visit and that ALWAYS puts a smile on Ollie’s face. I love that she makes him so happy. She’s great to have a round since then Norah plays too and the three of them run around giggling. It’s adorable.
We found a pocket of light in my bedroom.
After work we got to go to a BBQ with some good friends. We all went to Medical school together (all the hubbys) and then most of us did residency together too. Our kids are growing up together and it’s lovely when we can fit in all the schedules to get together. It’s hard between 5 doctors to find a day that everyone is home for. But we do it and it’s lovely every time.
Curlers for Lucy’s hair before bed.
Editing in the evening again. I’m behind and I’m trying to catch up.
There are lots of people playing along with this and you can see more if you go over to Ali’s blog. After I capture my week I’ll be putting my album together and sharing it.
