I started documenting my week yesterday for the week in the life project spearheaded by Ali Edwards. It’s my second year participating and I love love love my album that I ended up with last year and so I’m happily playing along again this year! These are my words and photos to document our day yesterday. Now it was a hard day. We were up in the night with two different kids and they were both crying a big portion of the day. I was very spent by supper time but I kept capturing even if it wasn’t a perfect day. It was one of “those” days that make mothering hard that are certainly a part of motherhood. And because of that completely worth documenting.
Night time wake ups were 2am with a peed in bed by Oliver. Dad took care of that one. And then at 3:30am with Norah who “just needed a little milk please”. And then everyone up for the day at 615am. We were both so tired.
6:24am: I can’t remember the last time I got out of bed and Eli wasn’t up. He is ALWAYS the first one up in the house. He’s often here snuggled in his fuzzy blanket reading.
7:12 am: The other kids are up for scripture study and breakfast.
7:19am: We usually have scriptures all together at the table but today we were all feeling drowsy and tired so some were on the couch, Alden was eating his breakfast. We read loud and made it work.
7:23am: Oliver was showing Norah how to meditate. I have no idea where even learns some of the things he knows. Eli had to show how he did it next.
7:40am: I couldn’t find Lucy and she wasn’t answering the calling for the bus so I went down to find her and here she was reading. This girl loves her books.
7:47am: Eli: “Mom can you just PLEASE help me with my backpack. I can’t fit everything in it.”
Me: “Well then you must have something else in it.”
Eli: “No I don’t.” I dig around and find a sandwich container filled with dirty socks. Classic Eli.
7:54am: Lucy has this routine with the littles. She does air high fives, air hugs and air pound its. And they all giggle while they do it.
8:48am: It’s often a battle to get kids in the tub around here. And today I didn’t win with Norah. But Ollie had too. (peed the bed last night) After Ollie couldn’t walk (typical post bath behavior with him) because he was just SO COLD.
8:52am: Still couldn’t get him to just get dressed to get warm.
8:58am “Mom can I PLEASE call a friend?” (It’s been a constant question since about 8am)
9:00am: She loves bouncing on that bed of hers. One day when we get it off the floor she might have even more fun 😉
10:19 am: There has been fighting all morning between these two today. And I am about at my limit. I was trying to take a picture of Oliver and she walked over and hit him. We’re all tired and it’s showing.
10:28am: I especially need some extra help today from above.
10:48am: Let’s try making something to distract the crying and be happy.
10:50am: It didn’t work out.
10:55am: He was only happy to listen to hers if he had his own.
1:33pm: “Mom, I gotta go pee!” We race to the bathroom and then she yells “Wait, first I gotta do the pee dance. And it goes like this. You shake your knees!”
2:38pm: Trying to be on top of supper since Monday’s are currently crazy around here. Making two kinds of soup (Minestrone and Grandma’s Chicken noodle) plus french bread.
3:01pm: Sage always brings a little happiness to these two and I’m glad she came over!!!
3:52pm: Let’s be honest here. The only motivation for guitar practice is playing the WiiU.
4:54pm: Mason came over to play but Eli has soccer soon so they only have a little time together.
5:13pm: Eli: ” I just need a butter horn for when Im subbed off and I feel like snacking!”
5:56pm: The noodles for the soup.
6:05pm: Fresh bread for the new neighbors on the block.
6:12pm: Everyone just quietly doing their own thing.
6:12pm: Building lego and listening to the radio.
6:31pm: Norah likes to sit on a stool at the table and we are not fans of it because she keeps putting her feet on the table. And it is a constant battle. She is really short so I can see wanting to be higher. Guess I shouldn’t have gotten rid of the booster seat.
6:52pm : Off to his soccer game.
7:31pm: Bed time stories with dad.
7:39pm: She is doing so good with her cello practice lately. All on her own and I love it.
12:00am: Friends came over for a book club meeting and ended up staying realllllllllly late (we actually went into this morning). It was so fun and so good to chat!
That was our Monday.
